Pulmonary fungal infections present substantial challenges in clinical management, particularly among immunocompromised individuals. These patients are highly susceptible to invasive fungal diseases, which can become life-threatening if not treated promptly. In recent years, non-traditional risk factors for invasive pulmonary fungal infections have been increasingly recognized. The diagnosis is often complicated by nonspecific clinical symptoms that overlap with other pulmonary conditions. Furthermore, the limited availability of effective antifungal therapies and the emergence of drug-resistant fungal strains exacerbate the complexity of treatment. Consequently, early and accurate diagnosis is critical for initiating timely and targeted therapy, thereby preventing disease progression and reducing morbidity and mortality.
