Good nutrition is fundamental for children with chronic illnesses, where enteral feeding is shown to be superior to parenteral nutrition. For children whose exclusive oral feeding is not feasible or adequate, assisted enteral feeding with tubes is widely practiced. It is pivotal for healthcare personnel handling this group of children to understand the indications for tube insertion, recognize the different types of tubes commonly used in Malaysia, learn the proper way to use them, and most importantly, be able to identify and handle the common complications associated with these tubes.
