Chronic suppurative lung disease (CSLD) characterized by a bronchiectasis-like syndrome with absence of bronchial dilatation. In some patients, it may be a precursor of bronchiectasis. The disease was the consequences of chronic or recurrent acute lower respiratory infection resulting in a range of symptoms that include chronic wet cough accompanied by intermittent exacerbations. Severity ranged from chronic wet cough to respiratory failure. This condition remained a major cause of ill health in children.
