Su Siew Choo

Dr Su Siew Choo is a consultant paediatrician and paediatric respiratory physician in Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine Degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2004 and membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) in 2008. She went on to pursue her fellowship in paediatric respiratory medicine between 2011 to 2014 in Penang General Hospital, Paediatric Institute Kuala Lumpur and Queensland Children’s Respiratory Centre, Queensland Children’s Medical Research Institute, and Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane, Australia. She obtained the Paediatric Diploma European Examination in Respiratory Medicine in 2021, and is a HERMES diplomate in paediatric respiratory medicine. She obtained her sleep qualifications in 2024 by obtaining her sleep technical and clinical certifications (RPSGT and CCSH) from BRPT, USA and became an international sleep disorders specialist from World Sleep Federation. During her fellowship training in Australia, she joined the excellent paediatric respiratory outreach programmes to Torres Strait and Darwin, Northern Territory with a focus on lung health and bronchiectasis among the aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders children and adolescents. She returned to her home country with the ideals of promoting lung health and creating awareness about chronic suppurative lung disease. She founded and developed the paediatric respiratory unit in HTAR, Klang from 2015 to 2025 before embarking on a new career path in Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur in March 2025. Her special interests are chronic cough, chronic suppurative lung disease and bronchiectasis, childhood asthma, airway disorders, flexible bronchoscopy and long term ventilation. She did visiting paediatric respiratory clinics and outreach programmes in Sibu, Miri, Bintulu and Kuching, Sarawak. She is also passionate about teaching basic and advanced paediatric life support to healthcare professionals, and remains an avid member of the advance life support group (ALSG) and Selangor committee of resuscitation training (SCORT). She is a council member of Malaysian Thoracic Society (MTS) and leader of the bronchiectasis SIG. She is also heavily involved in the training of medical officers preparing for their clinical examinations and is an examiner elect for MRPCH clinical exams. When Dr Su is not busy looking after children’s airways and lungs, she can be found strolling at parks, swimming in rivers, sunbathing on beaches, exploring islands, and hiking hills and mountains with her lovely daughter and husband.
