Liew Zheyi

A Respiratory Paediatrician since 2013, currently working at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru. Dr Liew returned to Malaysia to establish a brand new clinical service from zero – Paediatric Respiratory Unit, at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru, to serve the children in the Southern Parts of Malaysia (Johor & Melaka). Dr Liew has been settled in the UK for the last 20 years and was a Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician at the Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle. His clinical interests include general respiratory, severe asthma, long-term ventilation, complex airway and interventional pulmonology (performed the first bronchial stenting in children in Malaysia). Dr Liew has a strong research interest as his PhD was involved in the respiratory physiology of infants during high-flow nasal cannula therapy and continuous positive airway pressure. Outside of respiratory, my management interests are in training junior doctors and improving safety culture in the workplace.
