Mohamed Faisal Abdul Hamid

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Faisal Abdul Hamid is a Senior Consultant Pulmonologist and currently serves as the Head of the Endoscopy Services Centre at HCTM, UKM. He began his medical career in the Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2003, working across multiple hospitals before transitioning to his current institution. He completed his fellowship in respiratory medicine at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth, Australia, where he specialized in pleural disease, pulmonary physiology, and sleep medicine. His expertise and dedication led to the establishment of the pleural disease service at UKM, significantly improving patient care and research in this area. Beyond his clinical contributions, Prof. Faisal is deeply involved in medical education, research, and clinical training. He has played a pivotal role in mentoring and supervising postgraduate students, as well as both local and international respiratory fellows, shaping the next generation of specialists and consultants. His research work is extensive, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications to his name. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman of the UKM Hands-On Pleural Workshop, an esteemed program that has been successfully conducted for seven consecutive years, providing hands-on training in pleural procedures for physicians and specialists. His commitment to advancing respiratory medicine is further reflected in his role as a member of the Examination Committee for National Respiratory Fellows, ensuring high standards in specialist training.
