Narasimman Sathiamurthy
Dr Narasimman Sathiamurthy MD, MMed (Surgery) received his Medical Degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2003 and completed postgraduate training in General Surgery from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2011. He further pursued fellowship training in Thoracic Surgery with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and Institute of Robotic and Thoracic Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, India in 2016. He serves as the Consultant Thoracic & General Surgeon in Hospital Kuala Lumpur and the Head of Thoracic Surgery Subspecialty Services in Malaysia.
His forte in Thoracic Surgery is in Nonintubated Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, Uniportal Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, chest wall resection and reconstruction, Nonintubated tracheal resection, and he is also one of the very few thoracic surgeons in Malaysia performing tracheo-bronchial surgeries for various indications. He is an extensively published Thoracic Surgeon, with a focus on his experiences, which have been featured in both local and international journals. He also has a keen interest in training young surgeons.
He is a member of the National Surgical Conjoint Board of Examiners, Subspecialist Committee Member of the National Specialist Register and member of National General Surgical Policy Drafting Committee. He also serves as a life member of South East Asian Thoracic Society (SEATS), Malaysian Thoracic Society (MTS), Society of Endolaparoscopic Surgeons of Malaysia (SELSMA) and Malaysian Medical Association (MMA). Besides work, he is a keen hiker and diver.
